เสียงพูด เป็นวิธีธรรมชาติที่สุดเพื่อสื่อสารกับโทรศัพท์ - การพูดเพื่อค้นหาย่อมง่ายกว่าการพิมพ์เป็นไหนๆ เราเริ่มพัฒนาการค้นหาด้วยเสียงในภาษาอังกฤษ แมนดาริน จีนและญี่ปุ่น ล่าสุดเพิ่มเป็น 47 ภาษา ทั่วทั้งเอเชียเเละยุโรป  และวันนี้การค้นหาด้วยเสียงภาษาไทยพร้อมให้คุณได้ใช้งานเเล้ว



เป้าหมายของ Google คือการสร้างเครื่องมือการค้นหาด้วยเสียงที่สามารถรองรับภาษาต่างๆ ของผู้ใช้งานได้ โดยมีกระบวนการพัฒนาอย่างจริงจังเพื่อเพิ่มภาษาหรือสำเนียงท้องถิ่นใหม่ๆ อยู่เสมอ ความพยายามของเราในประเทศไทยคือการมอบประสบการณ์การค้นหาแบบใหม่และดียิ่งขึ้น เพื่อให้เข้าถึงกลุ่มผู้ใช้ชาวไทยได้กว้างกว่าเดิม โดยได้รวบรวมตัวอย่างคำพูดความยาวมากกว่า 200 ชั่วโมง จากอาสาสมัครมากกว่า 700 คน เป็นเวลากว่า 4 ปี ถือเป็นความมุ่งมั่นของทีมงาน Google ที่ต้องการเห็นความสวยงามของภาษาไทยจากการออกเสียงและการใช้ภาษาที่ถูกต้องหลากหลายรูปแบบ
การทำงานอย่างใกล้ชิดร่วมกับเจ้าของภาษาในกรุงเทพฯ ช่วยให้เราสามารถเก็บรวบรวมตัวอย่างเสียงคำพูดหลากหลายรูปแบบ เพื่อสร้างแบบจำลองการออกเสียงและภาษา ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญในบริการค้นหาด้วยเสียงภาษาไทยนี้  อาสาสมัครของเราอ่านคำค้นยอดนิยมต่างๆ เป็นสำเนียงท้องถิ่นในสภาพแวดล้อมที่มีเสียงต่างๆ กัน อาทิ ในร้านอาหาร ริมถนนที่มีจราจรคับคั่ง ในรถยนต์ เพื่อให้ตรงกับสภาพความเป็นจริงให้มากที่สุด และเพื่อให้การค้นหาได้เชื่อมโยงผู้ใช้เข้ากับข้อมูลที่ตรงกับความต้องการของผู้ใช้ได้ นอกจากนี้เรายังได้รวบรวมคำศัพท์ของแต่ละภาษาที่คนใช้กันไว้หลายแสนคำ ซึ่งอาจไม่ใช่เรื่องง่ายๆ แต่เรายินดีทำเพื่อผู้ใช้ของเรา

อุปกรณ์ที่รองรับ

การเปิดใช้งานการค้นหาด้วยเสียงของ Google ขึ้นอยู่กับชนิดของโทรศัพท์ที่เราใช้งานอยู่ว่าเป็นรุ่นอะไร ถ้าโทรศัพท์คุณรองรับระบบปฏิบัติการแอนดรอยด์ 4.1 ขึ้นไป คุณสามารถเปิดใช้งานการค้นหาด้วยเสียงในภาษาไทยได้ โดยเข้าไปที่ “การตั้งค่า” แล้วเลือก “เสียง” จากนั้นเลือก “ไทย”  คุณจะเห็นไอคอนไมโครโฟนปรากฏตรงช่องที่ใส่คำค้นหา หรือ ที่แอป Google การค้นหา เพียงแตะที่ไอคอนไมโครโฟนและพูดในสิ่งที่คุณต้องการค้นหา ข้อมูลต่างๆ ก็จะปรากฏอยู่ตรงหน้าคุณทันที
การค้นหาด้วยเสียงภาษาไทยจะเปิดให้บริการเร็วๆนี้ บนคอมพิวเตอร์ตั้งโต๊ะผ่านเบราว์เซอร์ Chrome และ บนระบบปฏิบัติการ iOS ผ่านแอพพลิเคชัน Google Search (ดาวน์โหลดได้จาก App Store) และ  คุณสามารถไปที่ ลิงค์นี้ เพื่อติดตามแอพพลิเคชัน Google Search บน iPhone หรือค้นคำว่า ‘Google Search App’ ใน App Store และหากคุณมีแอพพ์นี้อยู่เเล้วในเครื่อง เปิดใช้งานค้นหาด้วยเสียงง่ายๆ เพียงไปที่ “การตั้งค่า” และเปลี่ยนภาษาให้เป็นภาษาไทย

Voice Search arrives in Thailand . . .finally!
Here’s a test: which is faster...saying [most beautiful beach], or typing the same query character-by-character?

Voice has always been the most natural way to interact with a phone -- speaking is typically faster and easier than typing. We first developed Voice Search for English, Mandarin, Chinese and Japanese, and later we welcomed speakers from more than 47 languages across Asia and Europe. Today we’re delighted to announce that we’re launching Voice Search in Thai.

Our goal is to bring Google Voice Search to speakers of many languages and we follow a rigorous process to add each new language or dialect. In Thailand, our efforts to deliver a new, even better Search experience and make Search accessible to an even larger group of Thai users has spanned four years, requiring 200+ hours of spoken samples from over 700 volunteers and a dedicated group of Googlers determined to see the beauty of the Thai language captured accurately across our acoustic and language models.

Working directly with native speakers in Bangkok, we collected spoken utterances to create the specific models which power this service in Thai. Our volunteers are asked to read popular queries in their native tongue, in a variety of acoustic conditions such as in restaurants, out on busy streets, and inside cars, to best reflect real life and the role Search has in helping connect users with the information they need at just the right moment. We also construct, for each language, a vocabulary of many hundreds of thousands of recognisable words. It’s no small feat, but we love doing it.


Availability
How you get started with Google Voice Search depends on what kind of phone you have. Today, if your phone runs Android 4.1+, you can turn on voice-powered search in Thai by simply going to “Settings” then “Voice” and selecting Thai language. You see the microphone icon on your quick search box or Google Search App, and all you have to do is tap the icon to start searching with just the sound of your voice.

Thai Voice Search is coming soon to iOS devices via the Google Search App (available for download from the App Store) and to desktop computers via the Chrome browser. To get the Google Search App for iPhone, you can follow this link or search for ‘Google Search App’ in the App Store.  If you already have Google Search App installed, you can enable voice search by selecting the a language from the settings panel within the app.
